Our flightless fruit flies are an excellent source of live food for small reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and more. Often chosen for their small size and inability to escape, flightless fruit flies make excellent hassle-free feeders.

We offer three species for different dietary needs: D. melanogaster, D. hydei, and D. hydei 'golden'. Each culture is packed with live fruit flies, excelsior, and fresh food.

New vs. Established Cultures

Please note: Our flightless fruit fly cultures will be sold as new! This means they are NOT established, and you MUST wait two weeks before harvesting flies for feeding if you want your culture to continue to reproduce! This gives the colony time to establish, ensuring a steady supply as eggs hatch and larvae develop into adults. If you need flies ready to feed immediately, we offer established cultures that are ready to use. PLEASE SPECIFY WHAT YOU NEED!

Maintaining Your Fruit Fly Cultures

To keep a continuous supply, we recommend refreshing your cultures every 1-2 months by starting a new one. This is because over time, the contents of the culture dry out and become less productive, so starting fresh ensures your pet always has a thriving colony of flies available. To keep maintenance simple, we offer empty, ready-to-use culture containers on our website, which is perfect for transferring existing flies or creating a new culture.
